All those new 2011 calendars are floating around now, and most of them display nature’s beauty or creatures. A beautiful sunset, the Alaskan auroras, a cute puppy in the backyard rolling in the colorful leaves, a star-lit sky, majestic whales jumping out of the ocean, a grassy meadow with a random tree, a desert landscape, a garden with flowers of various colors, a starfish in the coral reefs, the innocent-looking monkey in the Amazon, the snow-capped peak of Mt. Everest, and other scenes I could attempt to portray with my lack of descriptive vocabulary. Even if it’s not nature shots, what about those calendars that have paintings by great artists? Picasso, da Vinci, Monet, Renoir, Chuck Close, Degas, Pollock. There’s so many kinds of calendars that I could go on forever, but the point is, I know that I’ve had that occasional desire to meet one of those artists. Wouldn’t it be awesome to talk to Picasso? That’d be interesting. However, it won’t happen. I can read biographies and study his paintings, but I can never truly know him. What about all those beautiful nature scenes and creatures, wouldn’t it be awesome to meet whoever created those? Oh wait, WE CAN.
“In the beginning, He created the heavens and the earth”-Genesis 1:1. I’m a little slow, but I’m just now really absorbing what that means. He is the most creative being who gave Picasso his creativity, and gave us all the ability to think and make. Why meet Picasso when I can have a relationship with the One who made Picasso and gave him his creativity? Wow. Embrace it. Whenever our hearts desire, we can talk to the One who made all these creatures with care and detail. He didn’t have to make the process by which plants receive nutrition and water complex, but He did.
“If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?” -Matthew 6:30. He has given us the capacity to be brilliant as Beth Moore told us at Passion. We can do so much with what God has given us, but do we even realize it? I know it’s hard for me to imagine, but He has given me the chance. Dream big. Be inspired. Every starry night was His design.
I went to Redeemer Presbyterian yesterday with DAN YOON, and Tim Keller spoke about out of all the ancient creation stories, only the Bible tells how God created the universe as a work of art. Most of them had stories like how these gods had a fight and the world formed out of it. It was pretty cool. Even us…takes an unbelievably creative person to shape every person differently =p not just physically, but with our gifts, with our personalities, everything we are.
Ooh, this is truth
Yeah, I think I’m going to have more posts like this one because I couldn’t get everything I was thinking into it without making it extremely long
See you soooooon!
